CrossTell author Colonel (Ret) Steven D. Martin served for thirty-three years in the United States Air Force rising from Airman Basic to Colonel. His extensive experience in disaster response led to his development of the “Force Packaging” model for Defense Support to Civil Authorities. This model was endorsed by the National Emergency Management Association as the military standard for resource typing.

Colonel Martin graduated from the United States Air Force Air War College in 2006 and is a recipient of the Legion of Merit. He is a Certified Public Manager with the State of North Carolina and is a recipient of North Carolina’s “Order of the Long Leaf Pine” the highest award given by the state. He and his wife Deborah live in Raleigh, North Carolina and co-founded Yellow Ribbon Ministries.
